William MacLean papers, 1787-1844 [manuscript].

Miscellaneous papers of MacLean of Lincoln (now Gaston) County, N.C., physician, Revolutionary soldier, and statesman. The papers include a certificate of membership in the American Medical Society signed by William Shippen (Philadelphia, 1797); part of a memorial address at King's Mountain, 1814, by MacLean (typed transcription); a letter from MacLean to his wife, Mary Davidson MacLean, while he was travelling in Tennessee, 1811, telling of his travels and mentioning family members; and a letter to Mrs. MacLean from the Rev. A. L. Watts of Mecklenburg County, N.C., 1844, about a pension and some Davidson College business.
